Rec Board River Float

Join your neighbors this summer in a float down the lazy river! The Jenkintown Rec Board is excited to bring back a very popular event, a tubing trip on the Delaware River that includes bus transportation and tube or raft rental.

What's this all about?

This event is a float trip down the Delaware River through Bucks County River Country, of Upper Bucks, PA. A  charter bus will take participants from Jenkintown to Point Pleasant, PA, where we'll rent tubes or rafts and hit the river.

When is it?

The trip is Saturday, July 24, 2010, and the bus will leave the Jenkintown Library parking lot at 9:00 a.m. We'll spend about three hours on the river, and our bus will be waiting for us at our take-out point.  We should be back in Jenkintown by 4:00 p.m.

What does it cost?

The cost for the float trip is $20 per person, regardless of age, which includes tube rental and transportation. Any upgrades from tubes to rafts, kayaks, or any incidentals purchased from the outfitter are your responsibility.

How do I pay?

• You can drop off a check  at the Jenkintown Library (Library hours: Mon-Thurs 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, Friday 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Saturday 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Sunday: Closed).

Who can participate?

Any Jenkintown resident age five or over.

Is it dangerous?

The section of the Delaware River we'll be enjoying is generally placid and shallow - 99% of the time, an adult can easily stand where we'll be. Depending on rainfall levels, the water may be higher or lower. In addition, all participants will be provided personal flotation devices.

What about food/drink?

Although the trip outfitter has a river concession, we are inviting participants to pack their own picnic coolers, which will remain on the bus. The driver will meet us at the takeout point, where we can relax and enjoy our lunches.. Cans and bottles are not allowed out on the river. Other rules/policies of the outfitter are here.

What's the deadline for registration?

We'll accept signups until the end of the day on Friday, July 23th.

What about weather or scheduling refunds?

If the weather is questionable, watch the Jenkintown Rec Board website (jenkintownboro.com/recboard) for any news of a cancellation. Refunds will be provided for any cancellation prior to Saturday morning. If we're already on the river and we have to get out early due to weather, there will be no refunds.
